EnviroGuard Achieves Underwriters Laboratories Listed Mark [UL-C] in CanadaMONTCLAIR, Calif. – December 22, 2011 - EnviroGuard, the leader in Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance Solutions, is pleased to announce its patented, modular spill containment systems for stationary lead acid battery applications now carry the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Listed mark [UL-C] in Canada. Since 2002, EnviroGuard spill containment systems have been UL Listed in the domestic marketplace. This new rating expands EnviroGuard’s UL Listed family of spill containment systems outside the United States. “Gaining the UL Listed mark [UL-C] for the Canadian market is the latest example of EnviroGuard delivering Global Compliance Solutions,” said Doug Frazier, president of EnviroGuard. “As we demonstrated in the US market, we are proud to be the first in Canada to gain this rating and continue our leadership role in the compliance and safety market for the UPS, Telecom, and Utility industries worldwide.” The UL Certification Category Code for the UL Canada Listing [UL-C] is “VMXB7.” It requires that secondary spill containment systems installed in stationary lead-acid battery applications provide a reliable means of containment of hazardous liquid materials – primarily battery electrolyte. Secondary spill containment systems provide a safety countermeasure in the event of leakage or spillage from stationary lead-acid battery or similar standby power systems. The UL Listed Mark, found on qualified EnviroGuard spill containment systems, ensures the product complies with all U.S. and Canadian UL requirements. EnviroGuard’s patented, modular spill containment systems now carrying the UL Canada Listing [UL-C] include EnviroGuard’s Eagle, Condor Plus, Condor Plus Quick Lock and Hawk Spill Containment Systems for flooded, VRLA cabinet and stack applications. EnviroGuard’s UL Listed systems are monitored by UL’s Follow-Up Services Program which verifies the products and components are manufactured in adherence with UL safety requirements. EnviroGuard’s proprietary neutralizing and absorbing pillows have been tested to meet NFPA 101 Class 1 Fire Rating requirements and carry their own “UL Recognized” mark. The pillows are labeled with the UL Recognized mark and are serialized for easy date code identification. When hit with electrolyte, the pillows are designed to neutralize acid to a Ph level between 7 and 9.
